Sony Music Entertainment filed a second copyright infringement lawsuit against AI music platform Udio on July 20.

The complaint filed in the Southern District of New York alleges Udio copied over 30,000 sound recordings without permission. This action follows a late June court ruling that prevented Sony from adding these recordings to its original June 2024 case.

While the court recognized Sony's right to seek damages, it mandated a separate filing for the additional works. Sony remains the last major record label actively litigating against Udio. Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group settled their legal disputes with the platform in late 2025.
