Sony Group executives sold significant shareholdings following the company's decision to end PlayStation physical disc production by 2028.

CEO Hiroki Totoki sold 225,000 shares on July 3, 2026, for approximately $4.73 million. This transaction reduced his direct holdings by 56.5%.

Other sellers include Chief Strategy Officer Toshimoto Mitomo, Sony Pictures CEO Ravi Ahuja, and Sony Music Publishing CEO Jon Platt. Filings indicate Ahuja and Platt executed sales under Rule 10b5-1 trading plans established three years prior.

Sony’s stock price initially rose despite consumer backlash to the all-digital transition. The European Union confirmed it lacks the authority to block the move away from physical media.
