Snap subsidiary Specs Inc. signed a multi-year strategic partnership with Qualcomm to develop future augmented reality (AR) glasses. The companies plan to launch the consumer-facing AR devices in 2026.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR platforms will power the hardware to enable on-device artificial intelligence. This agreement extends a collaboration that has lasted more than five years. Previous versions of Snap’s Spectacles also utilized Snapdragon chips.
The partnership aligns technology roadmaps for graphics processing and multi-user digital experiences. The upcoming glasses will run on Snap OS, which supports interaction through hand and voice commands.
