Samsung Electronics launched the "Together With the People, Appreciation Festival" in South Korea. The campaign runs from June 8 to July 5. Samsung will issue approximately 400 billion won ($290 million) in Onnuri gift certificates. Customers receive a 20% refund on purchases through these certificates. Participants must spend the rewards at traditional markets and small businesses to stimulate local economies.
This program represents the first phase of Samsung’s 5 trillion won social contribution pledge. The company committed to this five-year plan to share profits from the recent semiconductor super-cycle. Samsung also included the initiative as a component of a wage agreement with its labor union.
Uniformed public servants, such as soldiers and firefighters, qualify for an enhanced 30% refund. This increased rate recognizes their service to the community.
