Saab’s third-quarter operating profit rose to 1.95 billion crowns from 1.37 billion a year earlier, beating expectations. Like-for-like sales increased 30.6% year on year, as global demand for defense capabilities surged amid a changing security situation.
Order bookings rose 216% to 65.8 billion crowns, boosted by several large contracts. They included Gripen E fighter jets for Ukraine valued at 24.6 billion crowns, GlobalEye surveillance aircraft and systems for German frigates.
The orders pushed Saab’s backlog to a record 364 billion crowns. CEO Micael Johansson called it a “very strong quarter,” citing excellent order intake, strong sales growth and increased profitability.
