State-owned power financier REC will launch India’s first tokenized corporate bonds in September.

The initiative utilizes blockchain technology for bond issuance, trading, and settlement. This pilot program targets an initial issue size of less than ₹500 crore.

Participation remains restricted to a select group of investors during the initial phase. REC expects to unveil the offering at a fintech event in Mumbai next month.

This launch places India alongside markets like Europe and Hong Kong in blockchain adoption. The technology aims to enhance transparency and efficiency within the corporate bond market.
