Roblox (NYSE: RBLX) will launch a new age-based account system in early June. The update introduces "Roblox Kids" for ages 5-8 based on age verification. It also features "Roblox Select" accounts for users aged 9-15.

Roblox Kids accounts will disable communication features by default. These accounts restrict access to a curated selection of games that passed a strict three-step review process.

Roblox Select accounts allow content with up to a "Moderate" maturity label. All games available to users under 16 will now undergo an enhanced evaluation.

The platform is implementing these changes in response to widespread scrutiny regarding child safety. This move builds on previous requirements for facial age checks to access chat, a feature completed by over half of its global daily users.
