Ferrari sold its first all-electric vehicle, the Luce, for $40 million at the RM Sotheby’s auction during Monterey Car Week. This price establishes a new record for the most expensive new car ever sold at auction.

The final bid significantly exceeded the initial $1.1 million pre-sale estimate. It also surpassed the previous $26 million record set by a Ferrari Daytona SP3 in 2025.

The auctioned vehicle is Chassis 0, the first production unit featuring a unique Tailor Made configuration. This result signals market demand for Ferrari’s electric vehicle entry despite initial criticism.

The Ferrari Foundation will receive all proceeds from the sale. These funds will support various educational initiatives.
