Qualcomm signed a multiyear agreement to supply core technology for SpaceX’s new US terrestrial 5G network. The deal includes Qualcomm’s Dragonwing cellular infrastructure platforms, including radio and baseband units, for deployment at tens of thousands of cell sites.
The planned nationwide network will complement Starlink’s existing satellite-based services and position SpaceX to compete more directly with established US wireless carriers. Infrastructure rollout is scheduled to begin in 2027. Financial terms were not disclosed.
