Prairie Operating doubles H1 revenue, marred by $132 million derivatives loss

Prairie Operating Co. reported $182.3 million in revenue for the first half of 2026. This total more than doubled the $80.9 million earned in the prior year. Higher production and commodity prices in the DJ Basin drove the growth.

Second-quarter revenue reached $98.9 million. The company generated $94.3 million in operating cash flow during the first six months.

Prairie Operating reported a net loss of $43.7 million for the first half of the year. A $132.0 million loss on derivatives contracts intended to hedge price volatility caused the deficit. The company recorded a net income of $109.0 million for the second quarter. This quarterly gain failed to offset the impact of the first-half derivatives loss.
