Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL) partnered with the Government of Rwanda to launch a national satellite data program. This initiative marks the company’s first national-scale agreement on the African continent.
The Rwanda Space Agency will manage the program. It provides daily satellite imagery and geospatial data to government agencies, public universities, and select startups.
Rwanda will use the data to monitor agriculture, food security, and deforestation. The information also supports urban planning, disaster response, and academic research in Earth observation.
