Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk launched Awiqli in India on Thursday.
Awiqli is the world’s first once-weekly basal insulin approved for clinical use.
The drug treats both type 1 and type 2 diabetes in adults.
Novo Nordisk priced a weekly 70-unit dose at ₹261 ($2.74).
The product competes with existing daily-dose insulin options.
The launch occurs as Novo Nordisk faces competition from Eli Lilly and generic manufacturers in India.
