Novo Nordisk received approval to begin a Phase 3 clinical trial in South Korea for its next-generation obesity drug candidate, ZenaGamtide (amycretin). The trial, named AMAZE 13, will evaluate the drug in approximately 400 overweight or obese adults across Asia. Its primary goal is to measure the percentage change in body weight after 80 weeks of treatment.
ZenaGamtide is a dual-action peptide. It stimulates both GLP-1 and amylin receptors, which are involved in appetite suppression and feelings of fullness. Previous Phase 2 results showed a significant average weight reduction over 36 weeks in patients with type 2 diabetes. This trial is part of a broader global Phase 3 program for ZenaGamtide. The drug is being developed in both injectable and oral forms.
