Chinese technology companies, including ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent, have reportedly ordered more than 3 million Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 graphics cards. The orders are valued at more than $35 billion.

The RTX PRO 5500 is less powerful than Nvidia’s advanced AI processors but complies with U.S. restrictions on exports of those processors to China. Demand reportedly exceeds Nvidia’s planned production of the workstation chip. Nvidia has told partners and customers it cannot guarantee it will fulfill all orders.

Some sources say total orders from China have topped 6 million units. That is double the amount ordered by the three tech giants.
