NVIDIA is expanding its presence in Central Asia through a partnership with U.S.-based AI infrastructure company Firebird to develop Kazakhstan’s AI capabilities. The deal includes a U.S. export license for 45,000 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs for a new data center under construction in Ekibastuz with Kazakhtelecom. Operations are expected to begin in Q3 2027.
The initiative also includes plans to establish Firebird Labs Kazakhstan to support local startups and researchers. NVIDIA has also announced an investment in Higgsfield, a generative AI company founded in Kazakhstan.
The moves follow a visit to the country by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and are intended to help build a broader AI ecosystem. In a second phase, the country’s total AI infrastructure capacity could reach approximately 500 MW.
