The German federal government is reportedly planning a major partnership with Nvidia to advance the country’s artificial intelligence capabilities, with a focus on automation, robotics and autonomous vehicles. The initiative aims to build the foundation for “physical AI,” which is used to train industrial robots and self-driving cars.

The government is expected to invest hundreds of millions of euros, mainly to acquire advanced computing power. Nvidia will contribute engineering resources.

About a dozen German companies are expected to take part, including Siemens and Audi. An official announcement is anticipated at next week’s “Invest in Germany” summit.
