Nvidia launched an open reference design for humanoid robots featuring the Isaac GR00T platform and Jetson Thor onboard computer. This initiative provides a unified hardware and software foundation to accelerate general-purpose robotics development. The reference model integrates a Unitree H2 Plus body with five-fingered Sharpa hands.
The Jetson Thor computer utilizes Blackwell architecture to run generative AI models directly on the hardware. This design enables real-time autonomous operation without requiring constant cloud connectivity.
Nvidia’s open software approach aims to democratize research for institutions including Stanford University and UC San Diego. Unitree expects to make the reference robot available in late 2026.
