Nokia joined a Finnish Border Guard-led industrial consortium on June 25, 2026. The partnership will develop advanced counter-drone capabilities to protect critical infrastructure.

Nokia Defense will provide intelligent network solutions for patrol vehicles and boats. These systems enable secure, high-performance connectivity and real-time data exchange for surveillance operations.

The initiative aims to establish a sovereign counter-unmanned aerial systems (UAS) capability for nationwide deployment in Finland. Nokia shares rose following the announcement as the company expands its footprint in the defense technology sector.

Project partners scheduled technical evaluations for 2027 and early 2028.
