Canada granted Italy priority access to critical minerals during the G7 Leaders' Summit. This move directly benefits Nouveau Monde Graphite’s Matawinie mine project.
Italian energy company Eni committed nearly C$100 million to secure graphite supply from the project. Construction on the Matawinie mine has already commenced.
The project is projected to produce up to 106,000 tonnes of graphite annually. It serves as a strategic source for North American and European manufacturers seeking supply chains outside of China.
The Canadian government provides official backing for the development. This agreement enhances Nouveau Monde’s role in the global battery materials sector.
