Qatar and UAE LNG tankers successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since a regional conflict began. Ship-tracking data shows the Al Rayyan, Fuwairit, and Al Hamra exited the waterway on May 25. These vessels are currently en route to major buyers in China, Pakistan, and India.

The transits signal a potential end to the de facto blockade that has disrupted global energy flows since late February 2026. The Strait of Hormuz typically facilitates 20% of the world's LNG supply. Its closure previously forced Qatar to declare force majeure, triggering a severe global supply crunch.

While current volumes remain below pre-conflict levels, the shipments indicate producers are testing routes to resume deliveries. Markets are monitoring these flows to determine if a sustained resumption of Persian Gulf LNG exports is viable.
