Qatar and UAE tankers successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since a regional conflict closed the waterway in February 2026.
Ship-tracking data shows the Al Rayyan, Fuwairit, and Al Hamra exited the strait around May 25. These vessels are currently bound for major buyers in China, Pakistan, and India.
The Strait of Hormuz typically facilitates approximately 20% of the world's LNG supply. Its closure previously forced Qatar to declare force majeure and triggered a global supply shock.
Producers are now testing delivery routes to key customers despite the ongoing risk. This movement could mark the beginning of a sustained resumption of LNG flows from the Persian Gulf.
