Micron Technology, Inc. today announced a strategic investment in Indium Corporation to expand domestic processing of critical minerals used in advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The investment is part of Micron’s broader plan to invest up to $3 billion in the U.S. semiconductor supply chain and secure reliable domestic sources of manufacturing materials.

The funding will enable Indium Corporation to expand its refining and manufacturing operations in Rome, New York. The companies will also enter into a long-term supply agreement.

The partnership is expected to reduce U.S. reliance on concentrated global refining capacity, which is a growing national security concern.
