MTN Group has partnered with a UAE-based investment platform founded by Tarek Al Ashram to develop AI-ready data centers. The joint venture will operate through a new entity called Africa Data Hub Holding Limited.
The initial phase of the project focuses on building 150MW of capacity in South Africa and Nigeria. This move supports the company’s Ambition 2030 strategy to accelerate digital transformation across the continent.
The partnership combines MTN’s regional infrastructure with the UAE partner’s technical expertise in data center development. MTN is also reportedly exploring banking license acquisitions in key markets to expand its financial services division.
