OpenAI said it will change how it negotiates for new data centers following public backlash and recent Democratic midterm victories. The company will stop using non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with public officials and give residents access to construction plans.
OpenAI also pledged to ensure local communities do not bear the cost of the massive power consumption its facilities require. The commitments are part of a broader effort to build trust as the company faces growing scrutiny over the environmental and economic impact of its resource-intensive operations.
