Merck said its experimental drug sacituzumab tirumotecan (sac-TMT) demonstrated a significant survival benefit in a late-stage trial involving patients with advanced endometrial cancer. Data presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) congress showed the drug reduced the risk of death by 32% compared with standard chemotherapy.

Patients who received sac-TMT lived a median of 19 months, compared with 12.1 months for those who received chemotherapy.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted sac-TMT priority review. Merck is developing the drug in partnership with Chinese biotech firm Kelun-Biotech.
