MiniMed now offers its MiniMed Flex™ insulin pump system to Medicare and Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. This expansion provides the company’s most compact and only app-controlled delivery system to a broader segment of the diabetes community. The MiniMed Flex™ is approximately 50% smaller than previous models.
The system utilizes SmartGuard™ technology to automatically adjust insulin levels every five minutes. This is the same technology found in the MiniMed™ 780G system.
Evidence presented at the 86th American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions showed that Medicare beneficiaries using SmartGuard™ technology exceeded recommended glycemic targets. MiniMed aims to reduce the daily management burden for diabetes patients through this expanded access.
