Meta Platforms laid off approximately 8,000 employees. This reduction represents about 10% of the company's global workforce. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the restructuring in an internal memo to increase operational efficiency.

The company is reassigning 7,000 additional employees to AI-focused roles. Meta also canceled plans for approximately 6,000 new hires. Zuckerberg intends to redirect these resources toward high-priority AI initiatives.

Meta increased its 2026 capital expenditure forecast to between $125 billion and $145 billion. These funds will support the development of AI infrastructure. Zuckerberg stated that the company expects no further company-wide layoffs this year.
