Mitsubishi Electric Corporation selected MDA Space Ltd. to provide core technology for Japan’s next-generation defense communications satellite program. MDA Space will design and manufacture the advanced digital payload, antennas, and various subsystems.

The new satellite will replace the existing DSN-2 (Kirameki-2) spacecraft in geostationary orbit.

The project leverages MDA’s global infrastructure, with the UK division supplying anti-jamming and multi-beam payload technology. The Montreal facility will produce the advanced antenna solutions.

MDA Space will add the contract value to its order backlog in the second quarter of fiscal 2026.
