Bank of Maharashtra warned that operations may face disruptions on September 11, 2026. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) called for a nationwide strike to demand a five-day work week and pension updates. The UFBU represents seven major employee and officer organizations.

The bank implemented arrangements for normal functioning, though branch services and offices could still be impacted. This strike is part of a series of planned industrial actions, with further strikes scheduled for later in September if demands remain unmet.

The disruption could result in a four-day closure when combined with the weekend and a regional holiday. The bank advised customers that cash withdrawals and deposits may be affected during this period.
