JD.com joined a six-company consortium to bid for the first pilot project in Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolis. The group includes prominent developers Sino Land, China Merchants Land, and China Resources Land (Overseas). The consortium submitted its bid for a 10.5-hectare site in Hung Shui Kiu on July 3, 2026.
The multibillion-dollar government initiative aims to increase housing supply and foster innovation industries. The project includes residential plots for approximately 3,120 homes. It also features enterprise and technology parks with 280,000 square meters of industrial floor space.
Authorities are evaluating bids based on both price and non-price criteria. The development proposal carries a 30% weighting in the final assessment. The consortium expressed long-term optimism regarding the development’s potential.
