JetBlue Airways will close its Newark Liberty International Airport flight attendant base this fall. The carrier is also shuttering technical operations bases at both Newark and LaGuardia Airport. These closures are part of a cost-cutting strategy to reallocate resources to more profitable regions.

Affected employees will not lose their jobs. Staff will have the opportunity to bid for or transfer to other operational bases.

The airline is shifting its strategic focus to its Fort Lauderdale hub. JetBlue will end seasonal routes from Newark to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. These aircraft will be redeployed to bolster Florida operations.
