Infosys Ltd. shares climbed 3.22% on July 27, 2026. The stock outperformed the IT sector’s 2.24% gain and the Sensex’s 0.71% advance. This rally ended a five-day losing streak and marked the company's sharpest single-session gain in recent history. Jefferies upgraded the Indian IT sector to Neutral from Underperform, naming Infosys a preferred pick.
The surge occurred despite reports that Infosys lost portions of three major multi-million dollar contracts to competitors. Management previously confirmed that losing a large European client hindered first-quarter revenue growth. First-quarter profit increased 12.3%, though revenue missed analyst estimates. Clients continue to reduce general spending to prioritize artificial intelligence integration.
