Infineon Technologies will officially open its Smart Power Fab in Dresden, Germany, on July 2, 2026. The €5 billion ($5.8 billion) facility represents the largest single investment in company history. The project is expected to create approximately 1,000 new jobs. Production is starting three months ahead of the original schedule.
The European Union provided approximately €1 billion in public funding under the European Chips Act. This project supports the EU goal to reach a 20% global share of semiconductor production by 2030.
The factory will produce analog/mixed-signal components and power semiconductors on 300-millimeter wafers. These chips are essential for the automotive industry, renewable energy sectors, and data centers.
