Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) plans to launch futures contracts for graphics processing unit (GPU) computing power. The NYSE parent company is partnering with financial infrastructure firm Ornn to facilitate the launch.

Ornn provides a price index tracking spot GPU compute prices to serve as the contract basis. These cash-settled, USD-denominated futures offer a standardized risk management tool for the volatile compute market.

AI companies and data center operators can use the contracts to hedge against fluctuating costs. The initiative treats computing power as a tradable commodity driven by artificial intelligence expansion.
