Robinhood's UK entity joined the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) register of approved cryptoasset firms on July 31. This registration confirms the company complies with mandatory anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.
The approval allows Robinhood to arrange cryptocurrency trades in the UK's digital asset market. The firm joins more than 50 registered entities, including Kraken, Ripple, and Revolut.
Current permissions are limited to trade facilitation and do not include direct custody of customer crypto assets. This registration provides a head start before a stricter UK regulatory framework takes effect in October 2027.
The expansion into the UK market serves as a primary component of Robinhood's broader strategy for European growth.
