Alphabet’s Waymo has launched its new Ojai robotaxi for select customers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
The all-electric van was developed in partnership with Chinese automaker Zeekr. It features sliding doors and a flat floor to provide a more spacious interior than the Jaguar I-Pace models currently in use.
Zeekr manufactures the vehicles in China before Waymo installs its sixth-generation autonomous hardware and software in the U.S. Waymo plans to add hundreds of Ojai units to its fleet to scale its ride-hailing operations.
The company will expand Ojai availability to San Diego, Las Vegas, and Denver later this summer.
