Anthropic is resolving a months-long dispute with the Trump administration as the firm prepares for a public offering. The U.S. Defense Department blacklisted the AI company in March, labeling it a supply-chain risk. This conflict began after Anthropic restricted military use of its AI for domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons.
Relations improved after CEO Dario Amodei visited the White House in mid-April to discuss potential cooperation. The shift in tone follows Anthropic’s confidential filing for an initial public offering. Investors previously viewed the strained government relationship as a significant risk to the company’s valuation.
