General Motors is reversing its decision to exclude phone projection systems from its vehicles. The automaker will integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into a new infotainment interface.

This reversal follows a three-year phase-out of the features from new electric vehicles. The initial strategy aimed to drive users toward proprietary software and subscription revenue but faced significant consumer resistance.

The updated system debuts later this year on the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. The new design uses a hybrid approach, placing the phone interface in a large window alongside native functions like trailering data and vehicle status.
