General Motors CEO Mary Barra said on October 13, 2026, that GM remains on track to launch its eyes-off, hands-off advanced driver-assistance system by 2028. The all-electric Cadillac Escalade IQ is set to be the first model with the technology, which will later expand to other vehicles.
The announcement marks a shift in GM’s autonomous-driving strategy toward personally owned vehicles and away from a commercial robotaxi fleet. It follows GM’s decision to wind down its investment in the Cruise robotaxi division and redirect resources and expertise to driver-assistance systems for consumer vehicles.
