AI-focused energy infrastructure company Fermi Inc. named independent board member Lee McIntire as its new CEO, effective August 11, 2026. The appointment follows the April departure of co-founder Toby Neugebauer and his subsequent removal from the board in May.
McIntire will lead Fermi’s transition from development into the construction phase of its Project Matador campus. The facility is designed to provide dedicated power infrastructure for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
McIntire has served on Fermi’s board since September 2025 and brings 40 years of global engineering experience. His previous leadership roles include serving as CEO of engineering firm CH2M Hill and the advanced reactor company TerraPower.
