Shares of Filtronic surged as much as 14% on October 1 after the British radio-frequency specialist announced a record $68.1 million follow-on order from SpaceX — its largest ever from the satellite giant. The contract covers high-power signal amplifiers used in ground stations that connect to SpaceX's Starlink satellite network. For a company whose entire annual revenue is roughly the same size as this single order, the stakes embedded in the SpaceX relationship could not be higher.

A Single Order Nearly Equals a Full Year of Sales

The £51.3 million order value is about 92% of Filtronic's trailing twelve-month revenue of £55.5 million.

FY2026 revenue came in at £55.5 million with adjusted EBITDA of £11.3 million , a softer year after FY2025's breakout. According to broker Cavendish, firm orders now account for over 90% of Filtronic's anticipated FY2028 revenues — a striking level of backlog certainty for a company this small.

The SpaceX Pipeline Is Growing, But So Is the Concentration Risk

The two SpaceX orders together come to about $130.6 million, which makes SpaceX a major customer.

That validates Filtronic's technology but also ties its fortunes to a single buyer.

Revenue from Filtronic's largest customer already fell to 68% of group revenue in FY2026 from 83% in FY2025 — an improvement, but still an extreme dependency. Any disruption to Starlink procurement cycles would hit Filtronic disproportionately hard.

Analysts Stay Bullish, But the Order Doesn't Change Near-Term Forecasts

The record order prompted Cavendish to reiterate its "buy" rating and 290p price target.

The broker left its forecasts unchanged, including 2028 revenue of £75 million and adjusted EBITDA of £17 million.

Management emphasized that the order aligns with, rather than alters, its existing FY2028 financial guidance — meaning the market had already been pricing in a deal of this magnitude.

Execution Must Scale With Ambition

H1 FY2026 showed revenue of £25.3 million, slightly down from £25.6 million a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA fell to £5.1 million from £8.7 million as Filtronic invested in capacity and people. Ramping production to fulfill $130 million-plus in combined SpaceX commitments will test whether those investments pay off — or whether margins stay compressed. The 9% pop today is a vote of confidence, but the real verdict comes when deliveries begin at scale.
