UNIFI Communications, the Syrian Telecommunications Establishment (STE), and the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) signed a Construction and Maintenance Agreement for the UGARIT 2 submarine cable.
The parties finalized the agreement in Damascus on July 28, 2026.
This project represents the first significant international infrastructure deal executed under Syria’s new economic framework.
The UGARIT 2 cable will link Syria with Cyprus to provide a high-capacity digital route to Europe.
The initiative aims to restore Syria’s international connectivity and reintegrate the nation into the global digital economy.
