India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is reportedly in early-stage discussions with Brazilian planemaker Embraer about a major aircraft order. The potential deal includes a firm order for 100 regional jets. It could also include an option for 50 more aircraft.
The aircraft model has not been finalized. The talks remain preliminary, and a final agreement is not guaranteed. IndiGo is considering the jets as a way to expand its regional network and connect smaller Indian cities.
If completed, the order would be one of Embraer’s largest and give the planemaker a major foothold in India’s fast-growing aviation market. Deliveries would likely not begin before 2030.
IndiGo aims to grow its fleet to around 600 aircraft. It is targeting that fleet size by 2030.
