Colombia’s Ministry of Finance called an extraordinary shareholder meeting for September 15, 2026. The government currently holds an 88.49% stake in the state-controlled oil producer.

The proposal establishes a new nine-member board and amends a bylaw that limits simultaneous director replacements. This slate introduces six new members to the company’s governance.

The move follows the recent exit of Ecopetrol’s president and the replacement of five vice presidents. These changes aim to align leadership with the government’s new energy and corporate strategy.
