The U.S. Department of Defense awarded Dell Federal Systems a five-year contract valued at approximately $9.7 billion. This agreement centralizes the procurement of Microsoft software and services for all military branches, the intelligence community, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The contract consolidates numerous existing agreements into a single vehicle. It covers Microsoft 365, advanced cloud subscriptions, and on-premises software licensing.

The Pentagon expects to eliminate redundancies through this centralized process. The move is projected to generate annual savings of roughly $422 million.

Dell shares increased in after-hours trading following the announcement.
