JPMorgan Chase, Cisco, Cloudflare, and Chainguard have launched the Athena initiative. This coalition utilizes artificial intelligence to discover and remediate open-source software vulnerabilities before attackers can exploit them.
The group shares pre-disclosure research findings with a network of infrastructure providers, cybersecurity vendors, and system integrators. This coordination facilitates the creation of virtual patches and the implementation of fixes across the software ecosystem.
Chainguard also announced plans to work with the Linux Foundation. The two organizations will develop a coordinated security incident response team for open-source software.
