CervoMed announced the publication of two peer-reviewed research articles that provide further evidence for the potential of its drug candidate, neflamapimod, as a treatment for dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). The publications include results from its Phase 2b RewinD-LB clinical trial and preclinical data on the drug's mechanism of action.

Key Details

  • Phase 2b Trial Data: Results from the RewinD-LB trial, published in Alzheimer's Research & Therapy, showed that while the trial did not meet its primary endpoint in the full population, neflamapimod demonstrated greater benefit in patients without Alzheimer's disease co-pathology, replicating earlier Phase 2a findings.
  • Mechanism of Action: A separate publication in Cells demonstrated that neflamapimod inhibits IL-1β signaling, a key neuroinflammatory process. This research identified a target trough plasma concentration of approximately 4 ng/mL for pharmacological activity, consistent with clinical observations.
  • Path Forward: The company believes the data supports further development, particularly with a new tablet formulation designed to achieve more consistent drug exposure. CervoMed is currently seeking a strategic partner to advance neflamapimod into a Phase 3 trial for DLB.
