A South Korean consumer dispute panel ordered Coupang to pay 100,000 won ($70) to each victim of a 2025 personal data leak.
This ruling marks the first time the e-commerce giant faces formal liability for the breach. Fifty consumers initiated the collective dispute mediation request.
The breach compromised the sensitive information of 37.56 million users. Leaked data included names, addresses, and customer order histories.
Total compensation could reach 3.7 trillion won if all affected users receive similar payouts. This follows a record 624.7 billion won fine imposed on Coupang in June.
