South Korea and the United States agreed to manage the Coupang dispute to safeguard their bilateral relationship. Seoul’s ambassador to Washington announced that both governments aim to prevent the issue from damaging the alliance.

The diplomatic effort follows a U.S. House Judiciary Committee report alleging South Korean authorities unfairly targeted the American-owned firm. The White House also criticized South Korea for discriminatory regulatory practices against the e-commerce giant.

South Korea’s Foreign Ministry rejected these claims, stating the report primarily reflected Coupang’s perspective. Seoul officials expressed concern that unresolved tensions could disrupt other areas of international cooperation. The ambassador confirmed South Korea will maintain consultations with U.S. officials to clarify its regulatory position.
