Comcast agreed to a $117.5 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit. The underlying breach exposed the sensitive data of over 30 million Xfinity customers.

The incident occurred between October 16 and October 19, 2023. Compromised information included usernames, hashed passwords, names, and contact details. Some records also contained dates of birth and the last four digits of Social Security numbers.

Affected customers may claim up to $10,000 for documented losses. Alternatively, eligible individuals can opt for a cash payment estimated at $50. The settlement also provides three years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection.

The deadline to file a claim is August 14, 2026. A final court approval hearing is scheduled for July 2026. Comcast denied any wrongdoing as part of the agreement.
